A Little Travel Information

Well, there´s not too much to report about the wedding, although I can proudly say that we´ve chosen July 7th as the date. That will make our wedding date 07/07/07, which is arguably the coolest day ever to get married--we certainly both won the jackpot when we found each other!
So, if you are looking to come to the wedding, it'd probably be a nice idea to send me an email so I know what your plans might be. If you do that, I can help you with any suggestions I might have about accomodations and things like that.
At this point, though, since we´ve not chosen a location, it´s hard to plan for hotels, car rentals, and various similar things. But, if you do want to come to the wedding, it´s probably a good idea to begin checking on plane tickets. You´d fly into San José, Costa Rica (not California, and it's not that I don´t think you´re intelligent enough to figure this out yourself, but on this one, it's a good idea to be safe than sorry). The airport is Juan Santamaria International Airport. Some airline search engines that I would recommend checking are orbitz.com, travelocity.com, and expedia.com. If you go to those sites, they usually allow you to search a range of dates, which can show you a grid of possible dates with the prices, and you might find a deal. After you find a good day and a good price (which I´ll mention in a moment), you might also want to check the airlines' websites using the same dates. They often have slightly lower prices, and if you have frequent flier miles with an airline, you can often get bonuses if you buy your ticket on the airline's website. The airlines that seem to have the best prices and most flights are American, Continental, and Delta. But I sort of hate Delta, and the feeling seems to be universal among Delta fliers that I´ve spoken to. But still, if it´s got a good price, it´s not like the others are flying golden coaches these days, either.
As for prices, the cheapest I´ve seen for a Colorado-Costa Rica ticket is around 500 dollars. If you find that, snatch it up quickly, because I´ve also seen tickets for twice as much. Fortunately, it doesn´t seem to be too much more expensive to fly here in the (North American) summer, because that is the same time that they have the "green" (read: rainy!) season here.
A little tip, which may or may not work: Since the wedding is on July 7th, which is a Saturday, you´d likely want to stay before and after the wedding for a bit. In the past, I´ve flown on July 4th, and it seems to be cheaper for some reason. That´d be a bummer to fly then, since you´d miss the celebrations in the U.S., but if you come here, we can have a BBQ or something! Also, the flights during the week are usually cheaper than the ones on the weekend.
So, if you´re looking through this information and want some tips or help, please feel free to contact me. Happy hunting, and I can´t wait to see anyone who´s able to make it down (or up) here!

Happy Day! Ryan's getting married-- and to a girl too.

Look on www.kayak.com for tickets. They search airline sites plus the travel sites. We got our tickets to Ireland doing that. Good stuff.
